Music On Prescription

“I believe that music and song is a tuneful tonic that can ease the feeling of isolation, initiate interaction, create fun and laughter, improve overall well-being and certainly raise the spirits!”

Working within the Community, I also enjoy visiting Residential Care Homes, Hospitals, Hospices and Day Centres playing my acoustic guitar and singing/performing songs mainly from the 1950s (Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley and Doris Day! etc). It is a style and genre I love to sing and more importantly, they are classic songs that people remember, relate to and often join in with. I have also enjoyed a varied career in Theatre, Film and Television and was lucky enough to be brought up in a family where music and singing was a constant source of enjoyment and fun. I specifically sing songs from the 1950s as I know this decade reminds most, if not all residents and group/club members of their younger dancing and courting years.

I am experienced working with both small and large groups and feel that I am able to communicate and engage with people whilst being aware of and sensitive to their individual needs. I always feel inspired and privileged and find the whole experience incredibly uplifting. Often at a concert, people will take part, joke, sing along and on many occasions residents, visitors and staff will enjoy a dance. (be it standing or seated)

My past credits as a professional Actor and Singer include the Award winning West End Musicals Les Miserables (Barbican & Palace Theatre, Royal Albert Hall & O2 Arena), Barnum (London Palladium), Guys & Dolls (National Theatre) and the original workshop production of Phantom of the Opera (for Andrew Lloyd Webber & Richard Stilgoe). I have recorded Voice-overs, worked as a Presenter, appeared in Stage plays, Pantomime (with Ken Dodd), Television sit-coms, Children’s Theatre and Television (remember the ‘Tweenies’?) and appeared on Top of the Pops and… I once met and danced with Ginger Rogers!

If you would like me to visit and play for you, your Group and/or Organisation please do not hesitate to contact me
I will happily provide references on request. My ‘solo’ concert lasts for one hour.
